Sometimes we might notice a shell, stone or piece of wood that reminds us of something else. Well, while cleaning up palm fronds from my yard, I had the thought that one reminded me of a fish. I've seen painted palm fronds  at art and craft shows, and was given one as a gift. Palm fronds are similar to painting on wood. They can be sanded and preserved with a clear coat. So I decided to give it a try. What I created is something fun to hang in the sitting area I created in my carport.

Winter in Florida is typically a dry season, with rain being rare. This year is an exception, so far. My yard is green and lush from all the rain. I cut my grass today and did some weeding. My vegetable garden, which is small and in a shadier spot than last year, is starting to produce. I made spicy vodka infused with basil and jalapenos peppers from the garden. I enjoyed a bloody Mary this morning before walking in the yard snapping a few pictures of things that interested me in the garden. Check the recipe page for the vodka. Also check out the painted palm fronds I recently did!
